As a Senior Backend Engineer you will help us build new digital ventures from scratch that people love and use.

Your tasks & responsibilities:

• Your primary focus will be the design and development of server-side logic, definition and maintenance of the databases, and ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front­end
• Integration ​​with various external APIs and efficient handling of data (e.g. asynchronous processes, caching, error handling, batch processing, secure transmissions)
• Actively help to improve code quality, application speed and scalability architecture and automatization across all projects
• Design packages and components to be reused across projects
• Collaborate with other team members and stakeholders, such as our Frontend & Backend Engineers, DevOps Engineers and Product Managers to design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable code across all of our projects
• Help us further improve our Software Engineering practices and tooling, and automate reasonably many things to make us more efficient
• Coach other Backend Engineers
• Refine technical standards and propagate them into the software engineering teams

About you:

• Fluent English communication skills, both written and verbal, are required
• 6+ years of experience with constructing modern, complex NodeJS backend solutions
• Experience with at least one more robust, mature programming language (e.g., Java, C++, C# or similar)
• Solid familiarity with Node.js frameworks (such as Express.js, Hapi.js, NestJS, etc.)
• Understanding single-threaded behavior in Node.js
• Basic understanding of the prevalent Node.js or web server exploits and their remedies
• Experience with observability in production environments (logging, monitoring, alerting)
• Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases and their declarative query languages
• Knowledge of fundamental programming principles such as OOP, MVC, Mocking, ORM, continuous integration, microservices, and RESTful
• Strong test-driven approach to guarantee top-tier software quality. Experience implementing testing (Jest, Mocha is a plus)
• Understanding fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
• Experience with integrating 3rd-party services like Stripe or SES.
• Experience with Docker-based development workflows
• Profound understanding of tools like GitHub and JIRA

Bonus points if you have:

• Experience with Cloud Functions / Serverless architectures and popular cloud platforms like AWS or OracleCloud
• Experience working outside of the traditional boundaries of a backend engineering role and find ideal solutions for IT operations / DevOps, speed of delivery and security
• Contributed to open source projects
• Experience with Embedded Systems Engineering
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes
