The Job in a Nutshell💡
We are seeking a highly experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Lead to manage and oversee all accounting operations for our UAE entity. The ideal candidate will ensure compliance with local regulations, maintain accurate financial records, and support the Group Head of Accounting in achieving organizational financial goals. This role is based at our Dubai office and requires a proactive individual who thrives in a dynamic environment.
What Will You Do❓
- Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, payroll, inventory, fixed assets, and depreciation.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes, including bank reconciliations, prepayments, provisions, accruals, and financial statement preparation.
- Perform regular reviews of the trial balance and monthly reconciliations for balance sheet and sub-ledger intercompany accounts.
- Collaborate with external parties, including auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities, to ensure accurate tax filings (e.g., VAT, corporate tax) and adherence to compliance requirements in the UAE.
- Oversee payment processes, including invoice processing, payment verification, and forecasting of payables and cash availability to support smooth financial operations.
- Act as the primary liaison with external auditors, banks, and other stakeholders.
- Lead and mentor a team of 1 or 2 accountants, assigning tasks, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations to ensure high team performance and professional development.
- Optimize and enhance accounting processes, ERP systems (preferably Oracle NetSuite), and workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Implement and promote best practices in accounting, actively identifying opportunities for process improvement and system enhancements.
- Maintain and organize detailed financial records and documentation to ensure compliance with IFRS, regulations, and company policies.
What Are We Looking For❓
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting. A professional certification such as CPA, ACCA, CMA, or equivalent is highly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience with exposure to accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and tax functions. Experience with SaaS or technology companies is a plus.
- Expertise in accounting software and ERP systems (experience with Oracle NetSuite is preferred).
- Strong understanding of VAT and corporate tax regulations in the UAE.
- Proficient in interpreting financial data and providing actionable insights.
- Strong commitment to accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze issues and implement practical solutions effectively.
- Excellent ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Excellent command of English, both written and spoken.
