CredibleX is a new Fintech player specializing in Embedded Finance, targeting partners who serve the SME banking and lending segment within the UAE. We tackle the difficulty most local SMEs face when seeking credit by removing the barriers that traditional lenders have in place. We want to make accessing credit simple, transparent, digital, and friction-free for those who need it most, local SMEs. CredibleX is also backed by a newly launched investment fund from the region, ensuring an unfair advantage from day one.

About the role

As an early-stage startup, we are seeking a talented and forward-thinking Data Scientist to join our passionate team. As a Data Scientist at CredibleX, you will be at the forefront of leveraging data to build cutting-edge credit solutions and drive business growth. Your expertise in data analysis and machine learning will be crucial in helping us achieve our goals.

Responsibilities

• Applying your expertise in quantitative analysis, data mining, and the presentation of data
• Exploring and adopting new data sources that improve efficacy of new credit models
• Understand how users interact with our products, and use those insights to drive product strategy
• Guide and enable product teams to measure things that really matter, when it comes to lending
• For example, initiating and running A/B experiments to keep improving everything we do
• Drive together with the risk team a unified understanding of credit risk and loan profitability
• Determine how different lending products impacting user profitability, costs, and operations
• Liaise with our development team to make sure we collect the right data points and insights
• Selling the vision of advanced analytics and data-based decision making to wider stakeholders
• Keeping up-to-date with new developments and regulatory issues that may affect our business

Requirements and qualifications

• Experienced data science professional with relevant qualifications and experience
• 5 to 7 years experience of working within the financial services, specifically data science
• Have 3 to 5 years of experience within the Retail or SME lending credit risk segments and a previous background with a local bank or fintech company.
• Analytical background, with a history of presenting findings to internal and external stakeholders
• Additionally, have the confidence to build a new data science team, and lead it in the future
• Experience of building and improving credit models within Retail or SME lending segments
• You are aware and comfortable with new technologies that can support date science models
• Written and oral fluency in English, and the ability to communicate effectively to stakeholders

Nice to haves

• You have a proven track record as a Data Scientist
• Written and verbal fluency in Arabic
• An extensive local network (UAE), both within the startup ecosystem and financial services
